Since their first release in 2015 (the 12″ single “Wisdom”) they’ve put out one more 12″ and four 7″ singles. And now the label and its producer – and one of the label’s founders – Oscar Pablos aka Ojah come up with their fifth 7″ single release, the follow-up to the label’s first vocal offering, Ojah feat. Hada Guldris’ “Life Is Better When You Smile”.
For this brand new single, Ojah has expertly remixed and dubbed the classic vocal track “Freedom Fighters” from Alpha & Omega, which appeared on the British Roots Dub duo’s third album “Overstanding”, originally released in 1991. Originally voiced by Nishka, the vocals featured on this remix version were recorded by Paul Fox at a later stage. Some of the original stems have also been used here and others have been re-recorded and reprogrammed.
Producer and singer Paul Fox has been creating roots, reggae and dub since the early 1980s. He released his first 12″ single, “Writing On The Wall”, in 1992 and has since appeared on over 50 recordings. Paul Fox has worked with many artists and producers including Nick Manasseh, Robert Tribulation, Michael Rose, Rod Taylor, Fullness, Dubheart, Alpha and Omega, Jonah Dan and Unlisted Fanatic.
Due to its crisp mix, the intoxicating riddim instantly appeals to the listener’s ears. Combined with the flawless vocal delivery of Paul Fox it makes this remixed version of “Freedom Fighters” a winner. The B side features a dub version. Out of the different dub mixes that were created, the awesome sounding dubplate mix called “Freedom Dubplate” has been rightfully chosen to grace the flipside.
