Ojah ft. Nick Torp – Light & Power
Alchemy Dubs 7″ single

Back in June we were presented with a beautiful tune called Magma on the Oscar ‘Ojah’ Pablos run Alchemy Dubs label. Magma was the first in the label’s melodica singles trilogy, you can read my review at this link. Number two Light & Power, this time featuring the melodica of Nick Torp, has just been released and it is again a real top class single.

Whilst Magma was very ethereal, very melancholic and full of loss and longing, Light & Power is a very different proposition. As the title suggests it is more upbeat and positive. Like Magma it is an extremely well written and crafted tune. It sounds like a crazy melting pot of Parisian accordions, 70s Euro thriller film soundtrack, wrapped in a layer of reggae influenced electronica. It’s not the usual tune to come out of reggae record label, have a listen here as I am not sure I can properly do it justice!

Like the first release it is lovingly packaged in a stylish sleeve and is limited to 500 copies, each hand-stamped and hand-numbered.

It will be interesting to see how Ojah finishes the trilogy, not sure which direction he will go in. I can’t wait to find out.

If you like what you read on my site please give it a social media share, it is always appreciated. Bless, Paper Lion
