Ojah feat. Rider Shafique – Dreams reviewed at Reggae Vibes by Mr.T

RELEASE INFO: OJAH FEAT. RIDER SHAFIQUE – DREAMS

Label:  Alchemy Dubs | Format:  7″ vinyl single | Street date: September 27, 2018 | Website label

After the 7″ single releases “Life Is Better When You Smile” by Ojah feat. Hada Guldris and “Freedom Fighters” by Alpha & Omega feat. Paul Fox earlier this year, the Alchemy Dubs record label now comes up with their sixth release on 7” format, a collaboration between Ojah and Rider Shafique, a gifted lyricist and one half of the reggae inspired outfit Black Canvas.

The A side of this vinyl platter contains the vocal track “Dreams”. Underpinned by an intoxicating mid-tempo riddim the beautiful song goes into the realms of dub poetry. Rhyme architect Robert Hunt aka Rider Shafique provides the powerful thoughtful lyrics and his unique vibrant vocal delivery combines spoken word with dreamy melodies in a wickedly cool manner, while Ojah’s music and production duties complete the soundscape in an absolutely perfect way. On the B side there’s the very enjoyable dub version which obviously is titled “Dreams Dub”, The mix is true to its name resulting in a deep meditational dub outing that takes the listener into the land of dreams.

Just like the label’s previously released 7″ singles, this is a limited edition of 500 copies, hand-stamped and hand-numbered, served in a thick custom reversed kraftliner sleeve with inner black disco sleeves.
